It’s 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon and the chips or candy dish are calling! Sometimes I want something fresh but don’t want to spend a lot of time preparing it. These snacks can all be assembled in under 20 minutes! Most of them fall into the 5-10 minute category, so they’re perfect for a quick pick-me-up in the afternoon. We’ve compiled a list of 4 healthy snacks you can make at home!
Keto-friendly chips are awesome paired with savory dips like avocado hummus or a whipped feta dip. These chips could be savory or sweet, or even spicy!! Instead of a savory dip you could pair them with whipped ricotta and fresh summer berries.
A batch of sweet and savory dark chocolate bark is a great way to satisfy two cravings at once! Pistachios, pretzels, dried cherries, and of course chocolate are a great combo of protein, fiber, and just a bit of caffeine to get through that afternoon slump. Dark chocolate is also good for your heart! Some bark recipes involve a complex process called tempering. This one doesn’t, so be sure to store your bark in an airtight container in the fridge.
Bananas don’t have to be boring. Have you ever thought to spread them with peanut butter and roll them in cereal? Try it with a rice cereal with freeze dried strawberries for a sweet and tart treat! These are great frozen, but if you’re in a hurry and don’t want to wait, room temp will totally hit the spot.
Our favorite stand-by popcorn gets a makeover with the flavors of an everything bagel! The only equipment you’ll need is a paper bag, and a few spices you most likely already have in your cabinets. Popcorn is also a great source of fiber, and using olive oil keeps it heart healthy!
